Some free guitar lessons for you from us.

First of all, let me congratulate you on your decision to
learn how to play a guitar. You can go as far as you want
to with endless levels of
guitar courses or you may be just as content to learn just the basics. That's the beauty
of the guitar. You only need to learn a few basic chords and you will be able to play thousands of songs!

The
guitar is a beautiful instrument and there are an astounding variety of styles and types. There are classical,
folk, rock, all types and styles of acoustic and electric guitars and they come in all shapes and sizes. There are
cheap guitars, moderately priced ones as well as top of the line guitars. There are an amazing amounts of
colors to choose from with a variety of finishes.

The type of guitar you choose will be determined by the style of play you prefer. Yes that's right. There are many
many styles of guitar playing to choose from. There's classical, the blues, bluegrass, folk, rhythm, lead and the
list goes on. Totally confused yet? Don't worry. I will attempt to help you select the style to choose later.

For now I will tell you a little about the
guitar you should invest in (if you don't already have one.) Don't worry if
you already have one, because you can learn to play on just about any good quality guitar.

Your guitar should be well constructed. By that I mean that it should have a
good feel and the strings should be
easy to press. There should be good clearance between the frets and the strings. Enough that the strings don't
touch the frets when the string is played open.(not being pressed by your fingers) or touch the next fret down
when the string is pressed (However, the strings should not be so far from the frets that they hinder your
playing.) If you have one of those types, get rid of it! They will only make you develop bad habits. Good quality
guitars have a string height adjustment and generally
feel good in your hands.

I do recommend that you get
new strings for your guitar. There's nothing worse than the sound of dead guitar
strings.

A couple of inexpensive but quality guitars I recommend are: For
electric guitar - the Baltimore Guitar Pack and
for
acoustic guitar - Estebans Guitar In Black.

Tuning your guitar:
The first thing you need to learn about the guitar is how to tune it. I would recommend you pick up a guitar tuner
for this task and they come with instructions. They are very cheap to buy. If you don't have one you can find one
here. You can also download a software version of guitar tuner, but are a little more difficult to use. They are by
no means that hard to master though.
